In 2015 I was invited to work with Silver Vine Arts (SVA) developing their website and marketing materials. SVA is a non-profit, artist led collective whose mission is to enhance and highlight the arts within Leicester. Their main activities include curating exhibitions, hosting galleries in unusual spaces and organising placements and internships for art professionals and students.
SVA run the annual festival Summer Art Trail, part of the City Festival. The festival highlights creative organisations in Leicester, whilst supporting the local community, small independent businesses and showcasing local and national artists. My work with SVA centred around the Summer Art Trail and included; collaborating and liaising with 19 contributing venues and art organisations, managing and producing web pages and promotional materials, taking part in artist selection and curating work, developing brochures and maps for each venue and editing the Summer Art Trail brochure.
I love this sort of collaborative work, working with artists in particular, I find both enlightening and inspiring. Leicester has a thriving art community with many talented individuals making a multitude of beautiful, interesting, challenging, artworks and installations. Some of these can be found in the brochure below, they offer exhibitions and workshops throughout the year.
Whilst organising events and exhibitions in Leicester, Silver Vine Arts also dedicate time to creating opportunities for practising artists that ultimately help towards getting creatives paid. Last year as part of the Summer Art Trail, SVA gave practising artists the opportunity to exhibit at various venues including: The LCB Depot in the heart of Leicester's cultural quarter, Queen of Bradgate's atmospheric top floor rooms and Leicester's New Walk Museum.
